"HE'S A SNEAKY BASTARD!"

Gerber Comments...

After the above goal, Martin Gerber was asked what he thought of Omark's move. He told Dan Tencer of 630 Ched that Omark had tried that in practice on him, and it worked. He then said... "he's a sneaky bastard."

That was a great move by Omark. When asked about it, he said that he was "cold" as he had sat on the bench for much of the third if not all of it.

Riding the Pine...

Eberle and Hall were benched in the first period for the last seven plus minutes of the frame. Omark was benched in the the third. Tom Renney commented that these were decisions that were made to encourage better "puck choices" in Eberle & Hall's cases. Renney did give Omark credit for going in cold and having the belief in himself to pull the goal off. In my opinion, it sounded like Renney was quite impressed with Omark's fortitude.

Just a quick hit today...please comment.

GO Oilers GO!

  1. Just a quick comment - the recent team success in the absence of the Oilers' best (or most productive) forwards underlines the current state of the team - given the maturity (or lack thereof) of this group, the outcome each night is a surprise, dependant on the delicate psyche of the Oilers - Renney must be growing weary of the roller coaster, as his team doesn't seem to rise to the occasion when appropriate, or lay down when expected. Improved consistency should be on the wish list for next year, hopefully sourced from maturity, leadership, and the addition of an experienced power forward who plays big. I realize we have problems on defense also, but I think we need to contend in order to land a good d-man - the demand is such that salary alone won't bring a legitimate 1-3 depth d-man here - he can go elsewhere for the same money, and play for a contender, or at least in a more "favorable" market. I believe the current squad can make a playoff run next year, and that a d-man and some fine tuning at the trade deadline can precipitate the playoff appearance we have all been waiting for.
