TAYLOR HALL....OF FAME!

Taylor Hall...

Mark this day on your calendars Oiler Fans...Saturday February 19th is the day that Taylor Hall gets his first NHL Hat Trick! Not only does he get the three goals, but it was a natural hat trick to boot. With the third goal, he reached twenty on the year, which allowed his bonus of $212,000.00 to kick in as well. Not to mention Hall took over second in rookie scoring (points not goals) with 38 points. Not bad for an afternoon's work!

Hall decided that he was going to put this team on his back and completely take over the game. Edmonton was down 3-1 when Hall scored three unanswered goals to take the lead for the first time in the game at 4-3. The funny thing is...they were all on the Power Play, which we all know has struggled mightily all year long.

With this win the Oilers have now won 3 straight games on home ice. You would think that a three game win streak is not that big a deal for an NHL team, but since we haven't put two wins together since December and have only won now 10 games at home all year, it's pretty significant for this NHL team.

I guess the speech that Tambellini gave before the Dallas game, was effective as we have won all three games since.

Souray News...

Finally there been some news on the Sheldon Souray front that didn't come from Mark Spector over at Sportsnet. Souray was placed on re-entry waivers this morning at 10:00 am. Tambellini commented after the game today that he feels it's a good time as the weekend means GM's have a little more time to make a decision, and that all teams are looking for defencemen based on all the player movement in the last few days.

Personally, I have been one to want the Oilers and Souray to put their difference aside, kiss & make-up and get Sheldon back in the Copper & Blue. But, since that obviously isn't going to happen...I wonder if the re-call is due to an impending trade request, or if it's just to ditch him and his contract at half price.

All in all it's been a nice few games here to see at home, but now we need to lose a couple to insure we don't get too far out of 30th. There is no reason now, no matter what anyone says...to finish any better than 30th. I only say this because I truly  want this team to succeed in the future.

GO Oilers GO!
