A Brief Hiatus...

So Alex Burrows is back in the Line-up for the Canucks tonight. Jeff Tambellini (son of Oiler GM Steve Tambellini) has been sent to the farm to make room for Burrows. Expect that out of the gate, Burrows will be a physical presence for the knuckleheads. Tambellini, I thought played fairly well for Vancouver, especially the last couple of games.

Hopefully Steve MacIntyre will be in tonight, I haven't checked the line-up as I will be at the game tonight anyways. If Smack and Stortini are in...along with Theo Peckham who likes to take the body on guys, we should be able to match them physically speaking. What we need is for Dustin Penner to show up tonight.

Penner has not scored in 5 games and you can tell that he is not in most games in terms of effort. I know all th B.S. about "big guys don't look like their working hard, when that is not he case." I call bull shit! You can see that the effort has not been there at all. He looks lethargic, slow, and alot of times, confused. This is a guy that has every tool required to be a stellar power forward. He's big, skilled and has the hands, as we saw last year with his career best 32 goal performance. The rookies on this team need him to lead them into the corners and cycle the puck. Show the young guys that he can keep up and have the enthusiasm to make the play stay alive.

THE RINK TONIGHT...

One thing I hate about when the Canucks come to town, is the attitude of the fans that wear their sweater in the stands. These "Fans" act like they are the Stanley Cup champs. Vancouver has never won a cup and have choked in the play-offs the last couple of years. I don't know what the Canucks fans seem to think that they have ability to give us, The Loyal Oiler Nation, a hard time about. Is it that they got into the league before Edmonton did? Because that's all they really have. When Calgary or Vancouver are in town, I always end up with some fan of their's telling me why we suck and their team is great. This makes some fun for me, when I crush them verbally about how truly bad their teams actually have been, but it does get old.

HIATUS...

I will be away from the blog here for the next couple of days, returning Friday. I will tweet live from the game tonight but I will update this site with my thoughts on tonight's game on Friday. I will also put my Pre-Game thoughts down for the Detroit game as well.

In the meantime...enjoy this video montage of Smack laying the beat down on some AHL opponents. Lets hope he ragdolls a Canuck tonight!!!

GO Oilers GO!
